Kernel crash via unchecked memory-mapping failure
Published Jul 3, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Linux 6.15's Lenovo SE30 watchdog driver allows local users to crash the kernel after a failed memory mapping. lenovo_se30_wdt_probe() stores the NULL result from devm_ioremap() in shm_base_addr and accesses the unmapped shared-memory window without checking it. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access, Lenovo SE30 hardware, the watchdog driver, and a mapping failure during device probing; the reported consequence is availability loss only.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
