Local service interruption via unchecked sensor index
Published Jul 3, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Invalid memory access in the Linux asus-ec-sensors driver allows local users to interrupt service through a missing sensor read. The read_string() path passes an unchecked negative result from find_ec_sensor_index() to get_sensor_info(), causing undefined behavior. Low-privileged local access and a system using the ASUS EC sensor driver are required; only availability impact is reported.
