Unauthenticated account takeover via unchecked profile updates
Published May 9, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Authorization bypass in Iqonic Design WPBookit 1.0.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to take over arbitrary WordPress accounts. The edit_profile_data() function accepts a user-controlled account identifier and updates that account's email address and password without validating the requester's identity. No authentication or user interaction is required, and targeting an administrator account grants access to the site's administrative functions and data.
