User data modification via unprotected update endpoint
Published Apr 19, 2025 · Updated Apr 21, 2025
Cross-site request forgery in ZHENFENG13's BBS application 1.0 allows remote attackers to alter victim profile data through a browser. The /updateUserInfo endpoint accepts state-changing requests without CSRF protection, enabling a malicious page to submit a forged profile update under the victim's session. Exploitation requires an authenticated victim to load attacker-controlled content, and the demonstrated consequence is unauthorized profile modification.
