Local service interruption via VXLAN FDB data race
Published Jun 18, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Linux VXLAN FDB handling allows local users to interrupt service by sending packets concurrently through a configured VXLAN interface. The vxlan_xmit path reads and writes each FDB entry's used and updated timestamps from multiple threads without READ_ONCE() or WRITE_ONCE(), producing a data race. Reachability requires local packet-transmission access to a configured VXLAN path; no confidentiality or integrity effect is reported.
