System crash via uninitialized GT MMIO state
Published Jun 18, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL-pointer dereference in the Linux kernel 6.8 through 6.14.8 allows local users to crash the system through an Intel xe SR-IOV virtual function. In the VF initialization path, GuC GMDID communication calls xe_mmio_read or xe_mmio_write before gt->mmio receives a valid register address. Reachability requires the xe driver to run in SR-IOV VF mode; the resulting page fault crashes the kernel, with no reported data exposure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
