CVE-2025-37998

Information disclosure via malformed userspace attributes

Published May 29, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in Linux kernel Open vSwitch before 6.15 allows local users to disclose sensitive information via malformed attributes. output_userspace() manually iterates nested Netlink userspace attributes without rejecting malformed lengths, so parsing can read beyond an allocated buffer. Exploitation requires local code execution and the ability to submit crafted Open vSwitch action data; the disclosure can support a privilege-escalation chain but does not itself grant kernel execution.
