Module loading failure via absent patch entries
Published May 20, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Denial of service in affected Linux kernels allows local users to prevent data-only kernel modules from loading on powerpc64 systems. get_stubs_size returns -ENOEXEC when __patchable_function_entries is absent, causing sh_size to become a page-aligned zero passed into execmem_alloc. Reaching the path requires root or CAP_SYS_MODULE, and the observed consequence is failure of the requested module load.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
