System hang via disabled PHY clock selection
Published May 9, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Denial of service in the Linux AMD Display Core allows local users to hang systems after a display link-training failure. The enable_streams path assumes training succeeded, selects a disabled PHY clock, and then performs a register write that stalls the system. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and an affected AMD display path where link training fails; the documented consequence is a system hang.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
