CVE-2025-37869

Kernel compromise via unstable migration fence dereference

Published May 9, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Use-after-free in the Linux kernel allows local users to read or alter kernel data and interrupt service through the Intel Xe GPU migration path. xe_migrate_clear waits on m->fence after releasing the job mutex, so the fence pointer can change or be freed before the wait dereferences it. Reachability requires local low-privilege execution that drives buffer-object migration into the failing error path; no remote vector is reported.
