Kernel crash via invalid PMD misclassification
Published May 8, 2025 · Updated May 11, 2026
Denial of service in the Linux kernel on LoongArch allows local users to crash the kernel through an invalid huge-page mapping. huge_pte_offset() returns a PMD-slot pointer for invalid_pte_table; smaps_hugetlb_range() then treats its address as a migration swap entry and reaches pfn_swap_entry_to_page(). A low-privileged local process must cause the invalid huge-page entry to be inspected; the reported consequence is a kernel crash only.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
