CVE-2025-37799

Kernel-data disclosure via incorrect XDP packet length

Published May 3, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Information disclosure in affected Linux kernel releases allows attackers to expose uninitialized kernel data via vmxnet3 XDP packet handling. vmxnet3_process_xdp passes the receive-buffer length rather than the descriptor's actual packet length to xdp_prepare_buff, extending data_end into stale page contents. The flaw is reachable when vmxnet3 carries an XDP workload with ring-0 packets of 128 to 3,000 bytes; prior-packet data can cross the network, and oversized frames can be dropped.
