CVE-2025-37774

Kernel panic via uninitialized slab extension pointer

Published May 1, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

NULL pointer dereference in affected Linux kernel releases allows local users to crash the system by initiating buffered I/O. New slab pages retain stale low bits in slab->obj_exts; slab_obj_exts() does not mask those bits, and __alloc_tagging_slab_alloc_hook() later dereferences the invalid address. A low-privileged local user must reach the affected slab allocation path; the documented consequence is a kernel panic, not data access or modification.
