Kernel compromise via dangling PRIME reservation pointer
Published May 1, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux kernel Nouveau PRIME code from 3.5 allows local users to compromise the kernel through DRM render-node ioctls. drm_prime_gem_destroy frees the exporter's reservation object before delayed deletion dereferences nouveau_bo's dangling resv pointer. Access to a DRM render node is sufficient, and the same flaw can also crash the kernel and wedge graphics-buffer teardown.
