Credential disclosure via unredacted reindex audit bodies
Published Oct 10, 2025 · Updated Oct 10, 2025
Sensitive-data exposure in Elastic Elasticsearch affected releases allows remote authenticated users to place reindex credentials in audit logs. RestReindexAction filters an incorrect nested password path and leaves remote header values in audited request bodies instead of redacting them. Affected ranges are 7.0.0 through 7.17.29, 8.0.0 through 8.18.7, 8.19.0 through 8.19.4, 9.0.0 through 9.0.7, and 9.1.0 through 9.1.4; exposure requires audit logging, authentication_success events, and request-body emission, which is disabled by default.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
