Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped preload attribute
Published Apr 25, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Joe Dolson Able Player 1.2.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through the preload shortcode parameter. The shortcode renderer places the preload value into the generated media element without sufficient sanitization or attribute escaping. Contributor-level access is required, and the stored script executes whenever a user opens the injected page.
