Unauthenticated code execution via oversized STATUS argument
Published Apr 16, 2025 · Updated Apr 17, 2025
Buffer overflow in PCMan FTP Server 2.0.7 allows remote attackers to execute code by sending an oversized FTP STATUS argument. The handler processes an unbounded argument, and the published exploit uses 2,004 padding bytes to overwrite the saved return address before its payload. The demonstrated path requires an anonymous FTP login to the listening service and yields a reverse shell on the Windows host.
