Unauthenticated code execution via oversized MDTM argument
Published Apr 16, 2025 · Updated Apr 16, 2025
Buffer overflow in PCMan FTP Server 2.0.7 allows remote attackers to execute code by sending an oversized MDTM argument over FTP. The MDTM command handler copies a 2,006-byte-plus argument into a fixed-size stack buffer, allowing saved control-flow data to be overwritten. Anonymous FTP login is sufficient; successful exploitation runs attacker-controlled code in the server process, while failed attempts can crash it.
