Local privilege escalation via hyp_alloc out-of-bounds write
Published Mar 10, 2026 · Updated Mar 10, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in pKVM in Google Android allows local users to elevate privileges through hyp_alloc without user interaction. The hyp_alloc function in arch/arm64/kvm/hyp/nvhe/alloc.c insufficiently validates input before writing, allowing the operation to cross the intended buffer boundary. Reachability is limited to local users on affected arm64 devices; no prior privileges or user interaction are required.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
