Local privilege escalation via under-validated AoC message
Published Dec 11, 2025 · Updated Dec 11, 2025
An out-of-bounds read in Google Android's AoC kernel component allows local users with System privileges to gain elevated access. The aoc_service_read_message function in aoc_ipc_core.c inadequately validates message input and reads beyond the intended buffer. Exploitation requires local System execution privileges, needs no user interaction, and can further elevate the attacker's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
