Local privilege escalation via reduction heap overflow
Published Sep 4, 2025 · Updated Sep 4, 2025
Heap buffer overflow in Android's NeuralNetworks component allows local users to gain elevated privileges through a reduction operation. ConvertReductionOp in darwinn_mlir_converter_aidl.cc writes beyond a heap allocation while converting the reduction operation. Low-privileged local access is required; exploitation needs no user interaction and grants elevated privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
