Client redirection via attacker-controlled installer hostname
Published Jul 25, 2025 · Updated Jul 25, 2025
Cross-site request forgery in SimpleHelp before 5.5.11 allows remote attackers to redirect a downloaded client to an attacker-controlled host. The customer, technician, and access download endpoints embed a postfix hostname in a legitimate installer without restricting it to the serving SimpleHelp server. Exploitation requires a user to open the crafted link and run the installer; the client then requests resources from the attacker-controlled host, enabling interface spoofing and code execution when chained with CVE-2025-36727.
