CVE-2025-36522

Local privilege escalation via unsafe installer permissions

Published Feb 10, 2026 · Updated Feb 10, 2026

Privilege escalation in Intel Chipset Device Software before 10.1.20266.8668 allows local users to gain elevated system privileges. The Windows installer assigns incorrect default permissions, but Intel has not identified the affected installer resource or permission operation. Exploitation requires an authenticated local user, high complexity, additional attack requirements, and active user interaction; successful exploitation compromises host confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
