CVE-2025-36511

Local privilege escalation via incorrect default permissions

Published Feb 10, 2026 · Updated Feb 10, 2026

Incorrect default permissions in Intel Memory and Storage Tool before 2.5.2 allow local users to escalate privileges with user interaction. Intel identifies the affected locus only as Ring 3 user applications and does not disclose which file, directory, or object receives unsafe permissions. Exploitation requires authenticated local access, low privileges, a high-complexity condition, an additional attack requirement, and active user interaction; successful attacks compromise host data and operation.
