Stored XSS via unsanitized link title attribute
Published Sep 12, 2025 · Updated Sep 12, 2025
Stored XSS in the jQuery Colorbox WordPress plugin 4.6.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts via crafted link titles. When automatic Colorbox handling is enabled, the bundled Colorbox library reads a link's title attribute into the overlay caption without sanitizing attacker-controlled HTML. Contributor access is sufficient to store the payload in a post, but an administrator must preview the post and click the malicious link for script execution in the administrator's browser.
