Stored XSS via unchecked download link scheme
Published May 12, 2025 · Updated May 12, 2025
Stored XSS in Firelight LightPress Lightbox before 2.3.4 allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts through download links. The lightbox dialog turns an unchecked data-download attribute into its Download link without rejecting the javascript scheme. Contributor access permits planting the value, but execution requires a viewer to open the image dialog and click Download, exposing that viewer's WordPress session to script actions.
