Local service crash via unchecked biometric buffer length
Published Nov 17, 2025 · Updated Nov 17, 2025
Out-of-bounds reads in Dell ControlVault3 before 5.15.14.19 and ControlVault3 Plus before 6.2.36.47 allow local users to crash WinBio Service. The BrcmStorageAdapter.dll WBIO_USH_ADD_RECORD handler reads offsets 84 through 103 from a nonempty SendBuffer without first requiring a 104-byte size. A low-privilege user must open and lock a biometric unit, issue control code 4, and satisfy restrictive challenge and template checks; heap disclosure is constrained, while an unmapped read stops the service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
