Local memory corruption via late receive-buffer validation
Published Nov 17, 2025 · Updated Nov 17, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in Dell ControlVault3 before 5.15.14.19 and ControlVault3 Plus before 6.2.36.47 lets local users corrupt memory. StorageAdapterControlUnit writes a four-byte zero value to the caller-sized receive buffer before verifying that the buffer is at least four bytes. Any unprivileged local user can reach the call; the demonstrated consequence is a WinBio service crash, while code execution was not demonstrated.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
