CVE-2025-36460

WinBioSVC crash via undersized identity buffer

Published Nov 17, 2025 · Updated Nov 17, 2025

Out-of-bounds write in Dell ControlVault3 before 5.15.14.19 and ControlVault3 Plus before 6.2.36.47 allows local users to crash WinBioSVC. StorageAdapterControlUnit writes an 80-byte identity structure into a caller-sized receive buffer before verifying that the buffer is large enough. Any low-privileged Windows user can reach the unprivileged WinBioControlUnit path; a 4-to-79-byte buffer causes up to 75 bytes of overwrite, while targeted corruption requires control of stored identity data.
