CVE-2025-36398Network attack vector

Cross-user command-history access via controlled filename

Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 20, 2026

External filename control in IBM DS8A00 and DS8900F HMC allows remote authenticated users to read or modify another user's command history. The HMC command-history handling trusts an externally controlled filename, causing history operations to target a different user's history file. Exploitation requires authenticated DS8K access; the affected HMC holds no customer-data files, limiting exposure to management-console history.
