CVE-2025-36384

Local privilege escalation via unquoted search path

Published Jan 30, 2026 · Updated Jan 30, 2026

Local privilege escalation in IBM Db2 for Windows 12.1.0 through 12.1.3 allows local users with filesystem access to gain higher privileges. A privileged program invocation resolves an unquoted path element through a parent filesystem location that a local user can populate. IBM has not disclosed the affected Db2 component or invocation; exploitation requires local filesystem access and grants execution at the process's higher privilege level.
