CVE-2025-36035

System crash via unbounded hypervisor-call allocation

Published Sep 14, 2025 · Updated Sep 14, 2025

Resource exhaustion in IBM PowerVM Hypervisor firmware allows local users to crash the system through a crafted guest hypervisor call. The call can disclose memory contents or make the hypervisor consume memory without effective limits until system resources are exhausted. Exploitation requires local privileged access to a guest partition; the bounded impacts are limited memory disclosure and a system crash.
