Database process crash via missing SQL query
Published Jul 22, 2025 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Null pointer dereference in Comdb2 8.1 CDB2SQLQUERY handling allows remote attackers to crash a database process over TCP. The process_features function reads n_features through appdata->query->sqlquery without checking whether the optional sqlquery field was supplied. Any unauthenticated network client that reaches a database instance can omit that field in a crafted protocol-buffer message and terminate the process.
