CVE-2025-3576Network attack vector

Message spoofing via collision-prone RC4 checksums

Published Apr 15, 2025 · Updated Sep 1, 2026

Use of a weak hash in MIT Kerberos 5 before 1.22 allows remote attackers to tamper with GSSAPI-protected messages over a network. The RFC 4757 checksum construction uses collision-prone MD5, letting altered messages retain the original Message Integrity Code. Exploitation requires access to captured traffic and a configuration that negotiates RC4-HMAC-MD5 instead of stronger encryption types.
