CVE-2025-3573Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Cross-site scripting via unescaped validation message

Published Apr 15, 2025 · Updated Apr 15, 2025

Cross-site scripting in jQuery Validation Plugin before 1.20.0 allows remote attackers to execute script through a crafted placeholder. The showLabel function passes a placeholder-derived message through $.validator.messages and inserts it into an error label with jQuery's html() method without neutralization. Exploitation requires an application to accept attacker-controlled placeholder text and a user to trigger validation, enabling script execution in that user's browser context.
