Privilege escalation via pre-normalization path matching
Published Apr 14, 2025 · Updated Apr 14, 2025
Improper authorization in StudentManager 1.0 allows remote authenticated users to access administrator functions through crafted paths. LoginFilter tests the unnormalized request path against role-specific regular expressions, so dot segments can satisfy a permitted teacher-route pattern before resolving to a restricted route. A low-privileged account is required, and successful exploitation grants access beyond the account's assigned role.
