Account compromise via unthrottled password guessing
Published Apr 14, 2025 · Updated Apr 16, 2025
Improper login-attempt restriction in ScriptAndTools eCommerce Website in PHP 3.0 allows remote attackers to brute-force customer passwords. The login.php handler checks every submitted password against an MD5 database value but records no failed-attempt count and applies no delay, lockout, or throttling. An attacker needs a customer email address and repeated network access; successful guessing grants that customer's authenticated session.
