Unauthenticated API crash via unchecked email errors
Published Sep 17, 2025 · Updated Sep 17, 2025
Uncaught exception in Thorium before commit 6a65a27 allows remote attackers to crash the API through account-verification email handling. EmailClient::send unwraps recipient parsing, message construction, and SMTP send results instead of returning API errors. Email verification must be enabled, and a malformed address or failed email response can terminate the API service without affecting data confidentiality or integrity.
