CVE-2025-35431Network attack vector

Authorization-data modification via unescaped LDAP filter values

Published Sep 17, 2025 · Updated Sep 17, 2025

LDAP injection in CISA Thorium before 1.1.1 allows remote authenticated users to modify LDAP authorization data through metagroup values. The build_filter macro in api/src/models/backends/groups.rs interpolates each user-controlled metagroup item into an LDAP filter without escaping LDAP special characters. Exploitation requires an LDAP-enabled deployment and permission to add metagroups, so it does not grant group-modification authority beyond the caller’s existing rights.
