Stored XSS via unescaped lightbox caption attribute
Published May 16, 2025 · Updated May 16, 2025
Stored XSS in Archetyped Simple Lightbox before 2.9.4 allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts through crafted post links. The plugin copies the data-slb-caption DOM attribute into lightbox output without escaping special characters, so an embedded image error handler executes. Contributor access can store the payload, but another user must click the crafted link; the script then runs in that visitor's browser.
