Privilege escalation in IBM Security Guardium 12.1 allows local users with high privileges to gain root access through inherited permissions. IBM has not identified the program component or disclosed which created object's permissions are inherited too broadly. Exploitation requires existing high privileges on the appliance; successful use crosses the remaining boundary to root and enables complete control of its data and services.
