Remote root escalation via writable sudo script
Published Oct 16, 2025 · Updated Oct 16, 2025
Privilege escalation in Ilevia EVE X1 Server firmware 4.7.18.0.eden and earlier allows remote attackers to gain root access. The sudoers policy permits passwordless sudo execution of sync_project.sh even though the www-data account can overwrite the script directly or through command injection. Network reachability to the web interface is the gate; replacing the script and triggering its sudo execution yields complete control of the appliance.
