Firmware authenticity failure in Light & Wonder Deck Mate 1 allows physically proximate attackers to execute persistent arbitrary code. The AT89S53 controller boots code directly from a replaceable external EEPROM without verifying a signature or anchoring trust in immutable hardware. Internal device access is required to replace or reflash the chip; modified firmware can falsify card-count checks or manipulate shuffle behavior across reboots.
