Improper firmware verification in Light & Wonder DeckMate 2 before 2025-10-23 allows physically proximate attackers to execute code as root. The update utility decrypts self-extracting shell packages with a device-wide AES key, validates only four HMAC bytes, and never checks a signature. Access to the USB update interface is sufficient to install persistent code that can inspect or alter deck order.
