Cleartext credential storage in MailEnable before 10.54 allows local users to recover user and administrative passwords from AUTH.TAB. AUTH.TAB stores user and super-admin passwords as plaintext while filesystem permissions allow low-privileged authenticated accounts to read the file. Successful access exposes every stored mailbox credential and permits account takeover through MailEnable's POP3, SMTP, webmail, and administration services.
