Stored XSS via unencoded Dynamic DNS fields
Published Oct 28, 2025 · Updated Oct 28, 2025
Stored XSS in IPFire before 2.29 Core Update 198 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in other users' browsers. The ddns.cgi handler stores SERVICE, LOGIN, and PASSWORD values and later renders them in the web interface without HTML sanitization or output encoding. An authenticated attacker must create or edit a Dynamic DNS entry; execution occurs when another user views its service value or edits its saved credentials.
