Root code execution via privileged Logstash process
Published Oct 30, 2025 · Updated Nov 17, 2025
Execution with unnecessary privileges in Nagios Log Server before 2024R2.0.3 allows remote attackers to gain root code execution. The embedded Logstash service is launched as root rather than a dedicated lower-privileged account while accepting untrusted input and plugins. Compromise through an insecure plugin, injected pipeline configuration, or input-parsing flaw grants full control of the host.
