Admin takeover via unauthenticated credential reset
Published Sep 29, 2025 · Updated Sep 29, 2025
Authentication bypass in Vasion Print Host before 22.0.1049 and Application before 20.0.2786 allows remote attackers to gain admin control. The unauthenticated /admin/query/update_database.php endpoint writes attacker-supplied root_user and root_password values into the default administrator record after comparing it with hard-coded hashes of the default password. The installation web interface must be reachable while the default administrator credentials remain unchanged; successful exploitation grants full administrative control.
