Appliance impersonation via shared SSH host keys
Published Sep 19, 2025 · Updated Sep 19, 2025
Hardcoded SSH host keys in Vasion Print allow remote attackers to impersonate affected appliances over the network. The Application and Virtual Appliance Host images reuse identical RSA, ECDSA, and ED25519 private keys from /etc/ssh instead of generating unique host keys. Exploitation requires possession of one shipped private key and enables interception or impersonation of administrative SSH sessions wherever the matching host key remains in use.
