Unauthenticated code execution via BinaryFormatter deserialization
Published Aug 13, 2025 · Updated May 15, 2026
Insecure deserialization in Hyland OnBase before 17.0.2.87 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code without authentication. The TimerServer endpoint in Hyland.Core.Timers.dll passes untrusted requests from the .NET Remoting TCP channel to BinaryFormatter. Access to TCP port 6031 is sufficient to run code as NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM, enabling complete compromise of the hosting Windows server.
